You've Got Mail!

Before there was texts and E-cards, there was snail mail. Remember that? Am I the only one that still has a pen pal, and forces my friends to send me postcards as they travel around the world?? I probably am. Those that know me, probably are not shocked. I live in a nostalgic world. I'd have a horse and buggy if I could, and chickens in the back yard.

Not to say I don't spend a fair amount of time with technology. It's not my best friend, but I have sure embraced it in the form of my camera, my iPhone, and of course the Mac. So I guess I like the best of both worlds.

I'm working on a project I've had in mind for a while, and hopefully some day I will see it through to the end. In the meantime, I have started noticing a little collection within my collection which sparked todays entry. It's cute and quirky, and it speaks to me.

Back to Brown...

Another visit back to one of my favorite spots, the Distillery District. This time the purpose was to practice using my camera with manual settings rather then the automatic ones I have been using up to this point. In a way I feel I am starting all over, but yet it feels exciting and new all at once. Most people who know me, know I have the patience of....well...who am I kidding. I have no patience. Which actually amazes me how much I love trying to figure out, and capture a good shot. Of course there are those moments of pure frustration, and disappointment but that comes with anything being newly learned.

But I digress. This shot is part of Toronto's most photographed old trucks at the Distillery. I can see why, the patina on it is simply amazing. My goal is of course to try and capture a less popular view of it. I love the rusty reds, and brown tones. Reminds one that Fall is only a month away....

Call Me Vintage

Remember these? I don't remember the last time I actually used one. I figured I had better take a photo of one before they completely become extinct. Of course the colour of this phone, mixed with the graffiti, and the angle of the receiver caught me eye.

A Glass of Red

I'm usually a white wine drinker, but occasionally I don't mind a nice deep velvety red wine. Especially in the cold months, and with a nice beef stew, or coq au vin. (Which happens to be my new favorite dish)

This 'aged' or perhaps 'vintage' mural is from the side of the LCBO in Cabbagetown. Not sure if it is still there or not. I produced and framed a copy of this, and I have to say it adds a nice flavour to my wall. ;)
